New Cumnock Outdoor Swimming Pool opened on 4th June 2011, perhaps for the last time. At a liaison group meeting on 11/05/2011, it was decided to have a public meeting about the possible closure of the pool and to see what the public feeling. NERV, the organisation which have run the pool since 2000, are pulling out, so there will be no one to run it.
Will this be the pools' last season or do we want to keep it open???

Has anyone asked WestSound radio to promote the pool?

The Minerals Trust have generously agreed to give New Cumnock Liaison Group funds to commission a feasibility study on the swimming pool. This will allow us to discover if the group can go ahead and take on the running of the pool. Next meeting is Monday, 29th August at 6pm in the Community Centre. We can then decide which company we'll ask to perform the study and have a clear picture of the pool's future. Things are starting to move now folks!

Open meeting organised for Wed 21st Dec at 7.30pm in the Community Centre.
Alan Jones, who is the consultant hired to carry out our feasibility study, will be making a presentation to everyone. He will be letting us know his findings regarding the swimming pool and will give his suggestions for the future. It would be great if we can get a good turnout for this meeting to show support for the continuation of the pool. NERV give up their lease on 31st Dec and we need to show that the support is there to keep the pool open.
Come on folks!!!!! We need your help.

Next Meeting: 11th January
Now that the festivities are over we can report back to everyone on the meeting on 21st Dec. Although there wasn't a large turnout on this occasion, we would say the meeting was a success. Alan Jones and his associates were very encouraging about keeping our pool open. Independently, they see the potential as much as we do. They outlined a realistic pricing structure for us so we know what we can aim for, especially in the first year when funding will be at it's most difficult. Now that we have this unbiased opinion, our next step is to form a group of directors to run the pool and oversee it's regeneration. We have organised a meeting on 11th January at 6pm in the Community Centre and would ask that anyone interested would attend. The more people we have the easier it will be to keep our pool open. Please give it some thought.
Use it or lose it!
