New Cumnock news round up - summer's on the way!

AJ's New Cumnock News week ending 17th June 2012

Church News -Holiday Club.

The Holiday Club takes place in Parish Church Hall from Monday 2nd July to Friday 6th July .

This is for children Primary 1 - 7 and includes those just starting school. All children are invited.

The Holiday Club Leaders would like to thank the Windmill Renewable Energy Fund for their very generous Grant of £500. Greatly appreciated.

Pathhead Activity Group.
We are a small voluntary group of; parents, grand-parents and friends, who with the help of our local councillors came together when we were given the opportunity to purchase the ground where the original play park was at Polquheys Road. A task was set not only to raise money to buy the land but also to remove the unsafe items within the park, flatten the ground and renew equipment for a new park. We applied and are extremely grateful to every company and the general public who assisted in us raising the money, and through hard work within our small group holding tea bingo's, a nearly new sale and a door to door collection around Pathhead, we will be able to pay for; future security lighting, health and safety checks and general maintenance of the new park. The insurance for this year is paid. However this will be an expensive yearly bill so we will be required to fund raise continually to keep the park open for years to come. The park opening coincided with the Afton Lily street party on 3rd June with Sandra Marshall who has supported us from day one cutting the ribbons. As hundreds of people from all over New Cumnock and surrounding area's are aware this was a huge success. It was great to see so many children in the park enjoying themselves and this made all our hard work worthwhile. Parents / Carers please notethat the insurance only covers up to eleven years old. However, we really need more people to join our group to bring new idea's for fundraising.

Our meetings are held in the Afton Lily Social Club on the last Thursday of each month at 7-30pm. Due to private business in the Lily our meeting this month will be held on Thursday 21st June. You don’t need to live in Pathhead. You don’t need to have children. If you can spare an hour each month please join us. You will be most welcome.

Once again sincere thanks to everyone who has supported us. Special thanks to Afton Lily for allowing us the use of the hall for events and the lounge for our monthly meetings.
Nicknames: Foggy Ferguson, Fresh Barrera, Funny Broon, Fuss Houston, Fuzzy Ferguson, Gibby Montgomery, Ghurka Smith, Fi Fi Morrison, Ginger Hyslop, Gudge Grozier.

Remember Thursday is Coffee Bean time. Parish Church Hall. Doors open from 9-45am to 11-45am. Everybody welcome for a cuppa and a blether in pleasant surroundings.
