Tribute to Bobby - and this week's New Cumnock news
7 FebruaryAJ's New Cumnock News Week ending 12th February 2012
A wee tribute to one of New Cumnock's character of characters Bobby Rodgersons who recently passed away and deepest sympathy to all his family.
Born in Connelpark and very proud of it he was. Moved to Lochside House while still at school and eventually joined the Boys Brigade. Bobby loved life and drained all the knowledge of the countryside especially after his move. The Scouts were his next mission and on leaving school he worked at Whitehill farm and on to Knockshinnoch colliery to a career in engineering:
Where everyone was a character. He married in 1953 and eventually settled in Vancouver Island, Canada.
However he crossed the pond many times spreading happiness where ever he went, his stories and poems were legendary. Fun loving and with his trusty accordion gracing any places he played in. A true son of Connelpark. Thanks for the memories Bobby.
The Nursery News. Three year olds in the morning class made a recent visit to the Coffee Bean. They enjoyed a trip on the service bus and sampled the toasties at the Church hall and thanks to everyone involved.
